Back pain and medication
The risks of using acetaminophen for back pain are low, but the pain relieving qualities are also not very substantial. Acetaminophen is fine for mild to moderate pain but will not do too much to combat severe or chronic pain.
Acetaminophen is a good choice when combined with a more powerful opioid pain reliever, since the Paracetamol will increase the opioid effectiveness, while lessening the side effects and risks for dependency. However, these drugs are still dangerous and patients must be monitored carefully when using Vicodin or Percocet type drugs.
The actual cause of the back pain needs to be fully investigated and not simply relying on madication to numb the pain. As always, see your medical specialists.
